A little bit of old news but I just saw this…

Background Info:
“Kunka Kunka” (くんかくんか / クンカクンカ, a sniffing or smelling sound) is kind of a running joke on Ayana Taketatsu and Manami Numakura’s radio show, “Taketatsu Numakura Hajimete Demo Ii Desu Ka?”1. Sniffing listener mails, kunka kunka sound buttons for them to press, renaming things (e.g. the word bunkasai2 becomes kunkasai), and various other kunka kunka gags.

This has been taken to a whole new level, with the pictured above official product, KUNKAKUNKA FRAGRANCE3. Yes, this is a real product.

The concept: “A guy who smelled like this would be fantastic!”

Taketatsu produced fragrance:
The sweetness of a bakery joined with the fruityness of strawberries to create a sweet and refreshing aroma.

Numakura produced fragrance:
A beautiful harmony of woody and violet scents make a fragrance overflowing with freshness!

A bit too expensive for me, but I like that I live in a world where Voice Actor Radio Show Designer Fragrance is a real thing. Also I really like the logo.

1. agqr.jp, every other monday, midnight JST.
2. school culture festival, as seen in hundreds of animes
3. 7,000 yen for the set of 2, only ships within Japan.

Teacher Aya and Numasuke (5:15)

This is from a corner on their show where Ayana Taketatsu and Manami Numakura have to perform a short drama, but parts of the script are missing so they have to ad-lib those sections.

(Sorry I kind of left a lot of this transcript untranslated and as is, but that’s because, well just listen and you will understand.)

Teacher Aya (c.v. Ayana Taketatsu), Numasuke (C.V. Manami Numakura):
NUMASUKE: Teacher Aya, I do have one problem I don’t understand. Could you explain it to me?
TEACHER AYA: Hey, Hey! You can let teacher Aya take care of that!
NUMASUKE: Here’s the problem. I’ll read it to you. “Put the following sentence into English. Kyo boku wa ame ga takusan futte ita no de kasa o sashite dekakemashita.” Do you get this one, Teacher?
TEACHER AYA: Oh oh oh, easy, easy! That’s so easy and easy! Let Teacher Aya show you. Easily, easily, how easy can this—
NUMASUKE: If you understand, please hurry and tell me!
TEACHER AYA: Oh, right. Okay let’s explain this. “Kyo boku wa ame ga takusan futteita no de kasa o sashite dekakemashita.” Put into English. “Kyo”.. Is that “yesterday”… “TODAY! Today!”, boku, boku. “ME! Today me!” Ame is “RAIN!” Toboku no not toboku! “To me rain”.. takusan… “ippai ippai!” What’s “furu”? Furu, furu.. “DOWN DOWN! Rain down, downy! Rain downy.” (No more! No more of this corner!) “Today me rain down ippai ippai downy..” What’s “kasa”? What’s “kasa”?
NUMASUKE: Isn’t it “umbrella”?
TEACHER AYA: Umbrella! Umbrella! Nice, nice, nice, Numasuke! Numasukse, nice, nice. Okay. “Umbrella sashite… Umbrella sashite, go go!
NUMASUKE: That’s really it?
TEACHER AYA: Teacher Aya doesn’t lie! Repeat after me!
NUMASUKE: Uh..”Today me rain… ippai ippai…
TEACHER AYA:Downy!
NUMASUKE:downy, umbrella… sashite?
TEACHER AYA:Umbrella sashite go go!
NUMASUKE:Umbrella sashite go go..
TEACHER AYA: With better pronunciation, “Today me rain rainy downy.. rain downy, ippai ippai, umbrella sashite go go!
NUMASUKE:Today, me rain ippai ippai downy, umbrella sashite go go!
TEACHER AYA: (This is painful!…) Can you remember it now?
NUMASUKE: I can remember it, but Teacher Aya’s lessons are pretty tiring. I have to leave soon for the day.
TEACHER AYA: It that so? That’s a shame. Well, finally, let me teach you a wonderful phrase that you will definitely be able to use in the future.
NUMASUKE: A wonderful phrase?
TEACHER AYA:Boys be ambitious!” Numasuke, please don’t forget these words!
NUMASUKE:Boys be ambitious.” What does it mean?
TEACHER AYA: “Hmmmm, um, well to put that in Japanese, the meaning, the meaning is… “Boys be ambitious”… Wasn’t there a manga.. Youth! Boys’ youthful days Ambitious! …umm “Saraba Tomo Yo” Umm
NUMASUKE: Lyrics, lyrics?
TEACHER AYA: Umm, Tokyo! “Boys’ youthful days, Tokyo!” Do you understand?
NUMASUKE: …Thank you! I’ll never forget those words!
TEACHER AYA: Please hurry up and forget them… See you again!
AYANA TAKETATSU: Hurry up and forget! Hurry up and forget!
