TAKEUCHI:   Alright, now we’ve got one more thing to do. The Gate to Heaven.
ITO:        Right!
TAKEUCHI:   Ito-san will be taking care of this for us!
ITO:        …Yes!
TAKEUCHI:   Well. Um, so can we do anything?
ITO:        Anything is good… but just whatever won’t be good, will it?
TAKEUCHI:   I thought of something. How’s this? Three-in-a-row impressions.
ITO:        Huh? Impressions?
TAKEUCHI:   Three-in-a-row impressions. What do you think?
ITO:        What kind of impressions?
TAKEUCHI:   What would you recommend?
ITO:        Well one that I know pretty well is a reindeer impression.
TAKEUCHI:   Reindeer?
ITO:        I’m going to do a reindeer! Three… Two…
TAKEUCHI:   It’s three-in-a-row.
ITO:        Three! Three reindeer in a row!? What! That’s a little…
TAKEUCHI:   It’s three-in-a row…
ITO:        That really worried me!
TAKEUCHI:   So, a reindeer AND..
ITO:        Oh a reindeer AND!
TAKEUCHI:   A reindeer and?
ITO:        A reindeer and… Hmm. And what? What else can I do? Um. Hmm…
TAKEUCHI:   A reindeer, and an elephant, and, okay, a seahorse.
ITO:        Those are the ones like this right? They’re the curled up ones, right?
TAKEUCHI:   The curled up ones.
ITO:        Alright! First, number one, a reindeer! It’s Christmas… [*reindeer bells*]
TAKEUCHI:   Uh.
ITO:        [*laughter*] Huh? It’s Christmas.
TAKEUCHI:   Oh I get it!
ITO:        The flying ones.
TAKEUCHI:   It’s a flying one. I see! Got it! I wasn’t expecting that!
ITO:        What was number two, an elephant?
TAKEUCHI:   Yes! An elephant! Please!
ITO:        How should this go… [*elephant sound*]
TAKEUCHI:   Good! Good! Okay! And next, a seahorse.
ITO:        The ones in the water, right?
TAKEUCHI:   They’re the ones in the water.
ITO:        Okay! Here goes! A seahorse! [*seahorse sound*]
TAKEUCHI:   Thank you! Um, uh…
ITO:        Do I have to do them one more time?
TAKEUCHI:   All in a row. The full set.
ITO:        Uh! Ah! What kind of penalty game is this!
TAKEUCHI:   It’s three-in-a-row! In a row!
ITO:        Okay! Okay! Here goes! [*reindeer bells*][*elephant sound*][*seahorse sound*]
TAKEUCHI:   Thank you! That was great! Did the Gate open?
ITO:        Yes! No more!
TAKEUCHI:   Was it opened?
ITO:        No more!
TAKEUCHI:   Thank you!
ITO:        Okay!
TAKEUCHI:   Between this and the last time…
ITO:        Two times!
TAKEUCHI:   I think you opened it.

Babelupandora
Clip Length: 5:28
Source:Tokyo Babel: Pandora Housou-bu
Air Date: 2012.04.24
Personality: Ryouta Takeuchi
Guest: Kanae Ito

Guest Kanae Ito helps Ryouta Takeuchi decide on a greeting for the radio show Tokyo Babel: Pandora Housou-bu (Broadcasting Club). Because every radio show has got to have some sort of pun-type greeting.

(Not important, but if you wondering, Tokyo Babel is some sort of soon to be released PC Game.)

ITO:        From “Kaede”-san. Thank you!
TAKEUCHI:   Thank you!
ITO:        “Takeuchi-san, Kanae-san, Good Evening!”
TAKEUCHI:   Good Evening!
ITO:        Good Evening! “Aren’t you going to think about a greeting for the show? I was thinking maybe ‘KonPandora!’ or ‘KonBabel!’” I might be saying them wrong! [*laughter*] “What about those, or something like that? Please tell me your ideas too!”
TAKEUCHI:   Ah. I see. ‘KonPan..dora…’
ITO:        Konpandora, uh, I feel like I’m saying it wrong, It seems like I’m having some kind of difficulty…
TAKEUCHI:   ‘KonBabel’
ITO:        ‘Kon~ba~be~luu~’ (Note: Sounding a bit too much like a certain famous Doraem*n here…)
TAKEUCHI:   Whoa! That’s dangerous. Very dangerous.
ITO:        Dangerous? It’s dangerous!
TAKEUCHI:   That’s very close to crossing the line!
ITO:        Wait, why don’t you take a shot at saying it, Takeuchi-san?
TAKEUCHI:   I’m thinking something like, ‘Konpadora!’ or ‘KonBabelu!’ Couldn’t you say it like that?
ITO:        [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   Like that. No wavy dashes! Don’t stretch it out.
ITO:        Ah. Like, Dora~~! AAaaaAaAAaAa! I didn’t mean to…
TAKEUCHI:   Hey! Hey! You’re treading really close to the line there!
ITO:        Oh, was I? Konbabelu~~! [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   So free. Too free… Is there something we can use for the greeting though?
ITO:        Huh? Well we should really use something connected to title, right? For the greeting.
TAKEUCHI:   Right?
ITO:        Good Evening, Tokyo… [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   It’s becoming a different show now. Is that really okay? Good… um?
ITO:        Hold on please. I connected it with the wrong thing…
TAKEUCHI:   You can connect anything together, are you sure? Good evening, Tokyo.
ITO:        Ok! Good evening, Tokyo. Everyone, good evening Tokyo. [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   We’re done but let’s try one more. After one more we’re done.
ITO:        How about ‘KonPanwa’? KonPan.. ‘Pan’ from Pandora. KonPanwa!
TAKEUCHI:   KonPanwa! KonPanwa.
ITO:        That’s cute! It’s cute! KonPanwa!
TAKEUCHI:   KonPanwaa-dora.
ITO:        KonPanWaDoraa~.
TAKEUCHI:   Hey! Hey!
ITO:        KonPan… ‘Babel Pandora Housou-bu’…. Hmmm, what should we use?
TAKEUCHI:   What indeed…
ITO:        Ah, it’s Lupan! BabeLUPANdora! [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   Hey! Hey!
ITO:        If you connect them when you read it’s BabeLUPANdora! [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   Um. I’ve got an even worse feeling than last week. You’re just doing whatever you please! But ‘Good evening, Tokyo’
ITO:        Goodevening, Tokyo! Kind of surreal!
TAKEUCHI:   or ‘Konpanwadora.’ Personally, I think ‘Good evening, Tokyo’ is no good! ‘Good evening, Tokyo’
ITO:        ‘Goodevening, Tokyo!’
TAKEUCHI:   ‘Good evening, Tokyo.’ Well, we have lots of choices. But, if you really like it that much…
ITO:        It’s fine. We’ve gotta decide on a greeting that can get people excited about the show!
TAKEUCHI:   What should we do…
ITO:        We’ve gotta think of something for ‘Radio-name’ too!
TAKEUCHI:   Right. ‘Radio-name.’
ITO:        Tokyo-name! [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   Come on. You just want to use Tokyo! Tokyo-name? Tokyo-name? Babel-name?
ITO:        Babel-name. Babel Pandora-name…
TAKEUCHI:   Pandora…
ITO:        Babelupandora-name! [*laughter*] Lupandora? Lupandora? [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   Hold on! Hold on!
ITO:        Aaah. I feel like I’m in trouble with the teacher!
TAKEUCHI:   Listen. I’m getting the principal.
ITO:        What else is there? Um. Babel? Babe-name? Bel-name? Babel-name sounds cute!
TAKEUCHI:   Bel-name?
ITO:        Bel-name. Dora-name! [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   No matter how you use that it’s still really close to crossing the line. I don’t know if that’s a problem.
ITO:        Oh I see! [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
ITO:        Pan-name? Name-pan? [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   Sounds tasty.
ITO:        Tasty? [*laughter*]
TAKEUCHI:   So we have all kinds of choices now, right? Thank’s to Ito-san’s help? Right? We’ve got lots! So?
ITO:        How about ‘KonPanwadora’ then?
TAKEUCHI:   Ok. Konpanwadora! Konpanwadora. Are we going with that?
ITO:        But since ‘dora’ is, you know, let’s just use ‘KonPanwa!’
TAKEUCHI:   Because of that, Konpanwadora…
ITO:        Since there are certain circumstances… But just ‘Konpanwa’ is cute!
TAKEUCHI:   Let’s use that. ‘Konpanwa!’
ITO:        Is konpanwa really okay!?
TAKEUCHI:   Shall we go with ‘Konpanwa?’ It’s settled then!
ITO:        Yaay.. But what should we do for ‘Radio-name’? What do you think is good? What can you use? Ignoring all my declarations…
TAKEUCHI:   Ah really? Taking things seriously. Well I can see you really like at least the feeling of ‘Tokyo-name’. But, for ‘Tokyo Babel’, maybe Tokyo is okay…
ITO:        It’s recorded in Tokyo!
TAKEUCHI:   The setting is in Tokyo. It’s made in Tokyo. Tokyo-name is fine isn’t it?
ITO:        Surreal, but it’s decided!
TAKEUCHI:   It’s decided!
ITO:        Yay! Everyone use those from now on, ok!
TAKEUCHI:   Please use them. If noone use them… ‘Konpanwa’ and ‘Tokyo-name’
ITO:        So surreal!
TAKEUCHI:   Thank you! It’s decided!

Air Date: 2009.08.11
Personality: Kanae Ito

ITO:      “Kanae-chan, Yahagi-san, Cho-rassu!”
BOTH:     Cho-rassu!
ITO:      “You’re both the same age and you’ve appeared in “Shugo-Chara!”” a lot of times together. So, what were your first impressions of each other like?” Ohhh, first impressions…
YAHAGI:   So tiny… Here comes a tiny one… You came pitter-pattering up to me, like “Um, I’m going to get something eat. Would you like to come with me?”… “Sure.”
ITO:      It was like that that at first, huh?
YAHAGI:   That’s how I remember it. I was thinking, “How old is she? Is she still in junior high?” Later, when I heard you were the same age as me I thought, “Really? Seriously?”
ITO:      What do you mean? Why?
YAHAGI:   Well, I felt like I wanted to give you all sorts of presents… Like a yellow hat… And a red bag…
ITO:      Eh.. Ah.. Mmmm…
YAHAGI:   Mmmm. How about you? What did you think of Mom?
ITO:      At first, I thought, you must be older…
YAHAGI:   Right!? I know, right?
ITO:      I thought you must be way way more experienced, you were so composed. So I thought you were this amazing senpai. You were a little scary…
YAHAGI:   I’m not!
ITO:      It turned out you weren’t. Once I started to talk to you.
YAHAGI:   “Oh, she’s just a weirdo! She was just a creep!”
ITO:      No! It wasn’t like that!
YAHAGI:   I see. I get it.
ITO:      No!
YAHAGI:   I understand how you feel now.
ITO:      No, no! It’s not like that at all!
YAHAGI:   Thank you! It’s ok!
ITO:      Well, I look forward to working with you from now on!
YAHAGI:   That’s the conclusion? Me too, may we work together for a long time.
ITO:      Thanks for the email!

Kanae Ito has some questions about reindeer.
(11:58, English subtitles)

This is a true Holiday Classic. Don’t miss it!

December 4th, 2009. Kanae Ito is doing Radio Railgun with Rina Satoh (who’s filling in for Aki Toyosaki, who was out that week). Also, they have been drinking some wine (Beaujolais).

The first part is an in-character announcement skit done as Saten and Mikasa. After that they try to wrap up the show, but Kanae-chan has some questions and, well…

By the way, you don’t need to know anything about Toaru Kaguku no Railgun or Ito Kanae or anything to enjoy this clip. It will help if you know anything about reindeer though.

Bonus tip, when they start reading the TV airtimes you can either bear with it for ~45 seconds or just skip ahead from there to 1:50.

This is the first time I ever did a subtitles thing. Sorry if there are any problems!
